How to Reface Cabinet Doors

Replacing just your cabinet doors is quick and relatively easy way to make a huge difference in your home. Whether it is your kitchen cabinets or your bathroom cabinets, new cabinet doors can give new life to a design that has seen better days. Cabinet door refacing is also a great choice for those looking to repurpose as much of their existing cabinetry as possible. Check out the following steps to get started:

  1. Inspect each cabinet box for damage. This could include cracks, warping, or water damage.
  2. Ensure all cabinet boxes, both base cabinets and wall cabinets, are still solidly secured. These first two steps will help you determine if a cabinet door reface is right for you, or if you need a whole kitchen remodel.
  3. Remove the cabinet doors from the hinges. If you plan to re-use you hinges on your new doors, then you can leave them in place. If you are planning to upgrade your hinges to soft-close, then you can take this opportunity to take the old hinges out.
  4. Once all your cabinet doors and drawer fronts are removed, you can paint or refinish your cabinet boxes if that is part of your project.
  5. Before you paint or while you wait for it to dry, you will need to source your replacement cabinet doors and drawer fronts. For this, we have have you covered!
